What does it mean when the burner does not glow red?

EN

The selected temperature of the cooking zone is maintained by a sensor that cycles the zone on and off, so the surface cooking area will not always glow red. If you select a low heat setting, the heat will cycle on and off more frequently than at higher settings. The heat also cycles on and off at the highest setting.

If you request a service call because of an error made in operating the appliance, the visit from the customer service technician may incur a charge even during the warranty period.
