2 POSITIONING OF THE HOB

It is the law that all gas appliances are installed by authorised persons.

Clearance around the appliance must comply with the requirements of AS5601.

The following operation requires building and/or carpentry work so must be carried out by a competent tradesman. Installation can be carried out on various materials such as masonry, metal, solid wood or plastic laminated wood as long as they are heat resistant (T 90°C).

2.1Attachment to the support structure

Create an opening with the dimensions shown in the figure in the top surface of the counter, keeping a minimum distance of 50 mm from the rear border.

This appliance is classified as "type Y" in relation to fire hazards and can therefore be mounted against walls higher than the work surface on condition that a certain distance “X” be kept between the appliance and the wall as shown in the figure so as to avoid damage from overheating.

Make sure there is a minimum of 600 mm between the hot plate flames and any shelf that may be installed directly above them.

Accurately position the gasket provided all around the outer edge of the hole in the top surface as shown in the figures below, pressing it down so as to make it adhere properly. For measurements, refer to the figure depending on the hob model to be installed, bearing in mind that in both models the front and rear sides must skim the hole. Secure the hob to the counter with brackets A (supplied). Carefully trim any excess from border C of the gasket. The distances in the following drawing refer to the hole on the inner side of the gasket.

The Smeg CIR34XS is a remarkable built-in electric cooktop that combines elegance with cutting-edge technology. This contemporary appliance reflects Smeg’s commitment to producing high-quality kitchen equipment infused with Italian design aesthetics. With its sleek stainless-steel finish and smooth glass surface, the CIR34XS not only elevates the kitchen’s look but also offers exceptional functionality.

One of the standout features of the CIR34XS is its induction cooking technology. This method utilizes electromagnetic energy to directly heat cookware, delivering rapid and precise cooking results while ensuring the surface remains cool to the touch. This makes it an energy-efficient option, as heat is generated only when pans are in place, significantly reducing wasted energy and keeping the kitchen environment comfortable.

The cooktop features four highly responsive induction zones, each equipped with a booster function that allows for quick heating. This is particularly useful for bringing water to a boil or for sautéing ingredients with remarkable speed. The zones come in various sizes, accommodating different cookware dimensions and ensuring an optimal cooking experience.

Safety is a priority with the Smeg CIR34XS. The cooktop is equipped with several safety features including residual heat indicators, which alert users when the surface is still warm. Additionally, a child lock function provides peace of mind for families, preventing accidental activation by young children. The automatic shut-off feature also ensures that the cooktop will turn off after a designated period of inactivity, reducing the risk of overheating.

User convenience is further enhanced by the touch controls, which allow for easy temperature adjustments and settings. The layout is designed for intuitive use, making it simple even for novice cooks to operate. The sleek design also means that cleaning is effortless; the smooth, flat surface can be wiped down quickly, preventing food residue from becoming baked onto the cooktop.

Overall, the Smeg CIR34XS is a blend of style, efficiency, and practicality, making it a wise investment for modern kitchens. With its advanced induction technology, user-friendly interface, and safety features, it stands out as a top choice for anyone looking to elevate their cooking experience.
