Sloppy Joes
4 - 5 Servings
INGREDIENTS
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced 1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste 1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 pound lean ground beef salt and pepper, to taste
METHOD
1Into the Rice Cooker Pot, combine onion, garlic, bell pepper, tomato paste, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, and chili powder. Stir until mixed.
2Crumble ground beef over mixture and stir well.
3Close lid and press COOK.
4When rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM, stir the mixture and press COOK again.
5When rice cooker switches to KEEP WARM the second time, stir well and serve.

Split Pea and Ham Soup
3 - 4 Servings
INGREDIENTS
1 cup dried split peas
21/2 cups homemade chicken broth or good quality canned broth 1 small meaty ham hock or 4 ounces chopped ham
2strips bacon, diced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 rib celery, diced
1 carrots, peeled and diced
1 small onion, peeled and diced
salt, pepper and cayenne pepper to taste
METHOD
1Combine all ingredients into the Rice Cooker Pot. Press COOK. Set timer for 45 minutes.
2After 45 minutes, switch to KEEP WARM for an additional hour. Check for seasoning. The rice cooker keeps the soup hot for as long as you want.
