ing the unit in the same direction as the blade spins increases the cutting action.

SUsetheshoulder strapandkeepafirmgrip

on the unit with both hands.A properly ad- justed shoulder strap will support the

weight of the unit, freeing your arms and hands to control and guidethe cuttingmo-

tion.

SKeep feet comfortably spread apart and bracedforapossiblesudden,rapidthrustof unit.Donotoverreach.Keepfirmfootingand

balance.

SDonotraisetheengineaboveyour waistas the blade can come dangerously close to

your body.

SDo not swing unit with such force that you are in danger of losing your balance.

Bring the engine to cutting speed before en- tering the material to be cut.

If the blade does not turnwhen yousqueeze the throttle trigger, make sure tubeis fully in- serted into the engine.

Always release the throttle trigger and allow

engine to return to idle speed when not cut- ting. The blade should not turn while the en-

gineis runningatidle.Ifthe bladeturns atidle,

do not use your unit. Refer to theCarburetor adjustment section or contact your Autho-

rized Service Dealer.

SMaintain good firm footing while using the unit.Dothis by plantingfeet firmly in acom-

fortable apart position.

SCut while swinging the upper part of your body from right to left.

SAs youmoveforwardtothenextareatocut, be sure tomaintain your balance andfoot- ing.

WARNING: The operator or others must not try toclear away cut materialwith theen- ginerunningor thebladeturningtoavoidseri- ous injury. Stop engine and blade before re-

moving materials wrapped around blade or tube.

REPLACING THE LINE

SPushandholdtheenginestopswitch inthe stop/off position until the unit has fully

stopped.

SDisconnect the spark plug lead wire.

SRemove the spool by firmly pulling on the tap button.

SClean entire surface of hub and spool.

SReplacewithapre-woundspool,or cuttwo lengths of12-1/2feetof.080” (2mm) diam- eterWeedEaterbrandline.Never usewire,

rope, string, etc., which can break off and become a dangerous missile.

SInsertends oflineabout1/2inch(1cm) into the small hole inside spool.

SWind the line evenly and tightly onto the spool. Wind in the direction of the arrows

found on the spool.

SPushthelineintothenotches,leaving3to5 inches (7 - 12 cm) unwound.

SInsert the line into the the exit holes in the hub as shown in the illustration.

SAlign notches with the line exit holes.

SPush the spool into the hub until it snaps into place.

SPull the line extendingoutside ofthe hubto release it from the notch.

Replace spark plug yearly with a Champion RCJ-8Y plug. Spark plug gap is .025 in.
