ACCELERATION TEST-

oMove throttle control lever from slow to

fast position. If engine hesitates or dies, turn idle mixture valve out (counter- clockwise) 1/8 turn. Repeat test and continue to adjust, if necessary, until engine accelerates smoothly=

High speed stop is factory adjusted. Do not adjust- damage may result. IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the engine governor, which is factory set for proper engine speed. Overspeeding the engine above the factory high speed set- ting carl be dangerous. If you think the engine-governedhigh speed needs adjust- ing, contact your nearest authorized ser- vice center/department, which has proper equipment and experience to make any necessary adjustments_

Immediately prepare your tractor for stor- age at the end of the season or if the trac- tor will not be used for 30 days or more.

,_kCAUTION: Never store the tractor with gasoline in the tank inside a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark. Allow the engine to coot before stor- ing in any enclosure.

TRACTOR

Remove mower from tractor for winter storage. This will allow you to clean it thor- oughly. Remove all dirt, grease, leaves, etc. Store in a clean, dry area.

=Clean entire tractor (See "CLEANING" in the Maintenance section of this manual).

oinspect and replace belts, if necessary (See belt replacement instructions in the

Service and Adjustments section of this

manual).

oLubricate as shown in the Maintenance section of this manual.

oBe sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are securely fastened. Inspect moving parts for damage, breakage and wear. Replace if necessary.

Touch up all rusted or chipped paint sur- faces; sand lightly before painting.

o After cleaning, leave cables disconnect ed and place cables where they cannot come in contact with battery terminals.

°If batter] is removed from tractor for storage, do not store battery directly or concrete or damp surfaces.

IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent gum deposits from forming in essential fu system parts such as carburetor, fuel fiit_" fuel hose, or tank during storage. Also, experience indicates that alcohol blende_ fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) carl attract moisture which lea to separation and formation of acids duri= storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of an engine while in storage.
