Change Engine Oil

,,Onlyuse highqualitydetergentoil ratedwithAPIservice classificationSF,SG,or SH. Selectthe oil'sSAEviscositygrade accordingto the expectedoperatingtemperature.Referto opera- tionsectionfor viscositychart.

,,Changeengineoil afterthefirst fiveto eight hoursof operation, andeveryfifty hoursoreveryseasonthereafter.Changeoil every twentyfivehourswhenoperatingengineunderheavyloador in hightemperatures.

To Drain Oil

1.Drainthe fuelfromthe tankby runningthe engineuntilthe fuel tankis empty.

2.WithengineOFFbutstill warm,disconnectsparkplugwireand keepit awayfromsparkplug.

3.Removesquareoildrainpluglocatedat the baseof the engine, anddrainoil into anappropriatereceptacle.SeeFigure13.

Usedoil is a hazardouswasteproduct.Disposeof usedoilproperly. Do notdiscardwith householdwaste.Checkwithyour localauthori- tiesor SearsServiceCenterfor safedisposal/recyclingfacilities.

4.Replaceand tightentheoil drainplug.

5.Whenengineis drainedof alloil, placeenginelevel.Refillwith approximately20 oz. of freshoil. Fillto FULLlineondipstick.Do notoverfill.Referto Gas And Oil Fill-UpinOPERATIONsection.

6.Replaceoil fill dipstickandtighten.

7.Replacesparkplugwire beforestarting.

Temperatureof mufflerandnearbyareas mayexceed150°F (65°0). Avod theseareas.

Service Muffler

,,Inspectmufflerperiodically,and replaceif necessary.Replace- mentpartsfor the mufflermustbethe sameandinstalledinthe samepositionas the originalparts.

Clean Engine

,,Dailyor beforeeveryuse,cleangrass,chaffor accumulated debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean. Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeof any combustible debris.
