levels. This prevents the addition of distortion to the music at low frequencies. The High Frequency Crossover Net- work utilizes both

Second and Third

Order Crossover Designs. Refer to figure 7. It also uses Capacitors and In- ductors with high current capacity. The Capacitors used include low loss (ESR) Polypro- pylene and Mylar types. Both Cross- over Networks also utilize self resetting high current Poly-

Switches to provide an extra measure of protection. The enclosures are an important part of the XRT30

Loudspeaker System. The Bass Section Cabinet is con- structed from 1

inch and 1-1/2 inch thick MDF with laminated hard- woods and veneers. Internally, the cabi- net is reinforced with multiple MDF Cross-Bracing Trusses all de- signed to help in- sure that the cabi- net will not vibrate. Refer to figure 8. The High Fre- quency Column Section utilizes a massive extruded

aluminum enclosure that houses the 30 four inch Midrange and 25 one inch Tweeter Drivers. Refer to figure 9. It also has multiple front

to back internal braces to form a dampened rigid Column Struc- ture. The Column’s small

footprint allows for a variety of different placements in a room.

Performance Features

Patented LD/HP Technology

The McIntosh Low Frequency and Midrange Loudspeaker Elements feature the patented LD/HP Magnetic Circuit Design. This design, when compared to conventional Loudspeaker Elements, reduces distortion significantly. It also increases power handling and efficiency.

Neodymium-Iron-Boron Alloy Magnets

The 30 four inch Midranges and 25 one inch Dome Tweet- ers all use this Alloy. The Neodymium-Iron-Boron Alloy has a high flux density per unit of volume and helps to keep the Column weight to a minimum.

Shielded Magnetic Field

The XRT30 may be used in Home Theater Installations near a television receiver or monitor without causing the television image to degrade. McIntosh has designed special shielding around the magnetic structure of the XRT30 Loudspeaker Elements to prevent interference.

High Power Handling

The Loudspeaker Elements and Crossover Components of the XRT30 are all chosen for use with powerful amplifiers up to 1,200 watts.

Superior Imaging

Locating the Column of Tweeters between the two Columns of Midranges helps to generate a symmetrical horizontal polar response for superior imaging.

Versatile Operation and Placement

In additional to the regular connections, the XRT30 Loud- speaker System provides separate connections for Bi-Am- plification and Tri-Amplification hookups. The Crossover Network has provisions to ensure the best performance when the High Frequency Column is mounted in a wall.

Gold Plated Input Connectors

The XRT30 input connectors are gold plated for superior corrosion resistance and high electrical conductivity.

XRT30 specifications

The McIntosh XRT30 is a remarkable loudspeaker that embodies the high standards of audio engineering synonymous with the McIntosh brand. Renowned for its advanced technology and exceptional performance, the XRT30 provides a listening experience that caters to audiophiles and music enthusiasts alike.

One of the standout features of the XRT30 is its unique design, which includes a slender, elegant cabinet that minimizes the distortion commonly associated with conventional loudspeakers. This innovative design helps to achieve a more accurate sound reproduction, ensuring that each note is rendered with striking clarity and precision.

The speaker utilizes a proprietary driver array that combines several advanced technologies. The high-frequency section consists of specially designed silk-dome tweeters that provide a smooth and extended response, reaching frequencies up to 40 kHz. This makes for crystal-clear highs that bring out the most intricate details in any recording.

In addition to the high-frequency drivers, the XRT30 is equipped with several midrange drivers arranged in a unique configuration. This array is engineered to create a broad soundstage, allowing listeners to feel immersed in the music. The midrange drivers are vital for delivering the warmth and presence of vocals and acoustic instruments, ensuring that every performance feels dynamic and engaging.

The low-frequency performance of the XRT30 is powered by dual 12-inch woofers. These woofers are optimized for deep bass response and are housed in a carefully calibrated enclosure that enhances their performance. The result is a robust low-end that remains tight and controlled, even at high volume levels.

Overall, the XRT30 is designed to handle high power levels without distortion, thanks to its robust construction and high-efficiency drivers. Each speaker is hand-crafted, reflecting McIntosh’s commitment to excellence in both sound quality and build quality.

With its elegant finish, the XRT30 adds a touch of sophistication to any listening space. The combination of advanced design, quality materials, and meticulous craftsmanship make it a worthy addition to any high-end audio system. For those who seek an unparalleled listening experience, the McIntosh XRT30 presents a compelling option that delivers on both performance and aesthetic appeal.
