Preparing the Site

Your fitness spa needs a solid and level foundation. The installation surface must be able to support the weight of the hot tub, the water and any occupants. Recommended placement for your fitness spa is on an elevated 3- to 4- inch concrete slab or a surface that is similar in strength and durability. Pavers, gravel, brick, sand, timbers or dirt foun- dations are not adequate to support the spa. Indoor spas should be placed on flooring that will not be damaged or stained. It is highly recommended that a qualified, licensed contractor prepare the foundation for your spa. If the foun- dation is not strong enough, it may shift after the spa has been placed, causing undue stress that can damage your hot tub. You may wish to calculate the weight of your spa to determine if the site that you have selected is adequate.

Calculate Your Spa Weight

The weight of your full spa can be calculated by multiplying the number of gallons it holds by 8.33 and then adding the product to the spa’s dry weight.

Make Sure Your Spa Fits

The specification chart in this brochure lists your spa’s dimensions. Compare these dimensions to the installation site and use it to identify any possible obstructions along the delivery path, such as gates and doorways. It may be neces- sary to partially remove a fence or cut branches to provide a clear route. If there are obstructions or stairs along the delivery path, make arrangements with your local Cal Spas dealer to get around them prior to delivery.

Crane Guidelines

A crane is the most convenient way to deliver fitness spas that are larger than 8 feet in length or width. Crane delivery is routine for Cal Spas dealers who work with local crane operators to access remote locations. The crane operator and installation team will secure the fitness spa to the crane arm. The operator will then use the crane to slowly lower the spa onto the location that you have selected. The cost of a crane is typically not included in standard delivery service.

Connect Electrical – US & Canada

Fitness spas require 240V electrical installation on a dedicated GFCI protected circuit as required by ANSI/NFPA 70 with no other appliances or lights sharing the power. All 240V spas must be permanently connected (hard-wired) to the power supply. Spas wired in any other way will void your warranty and may result in serious injury. Electrical con- nectivity must be installed by an electrical contractor and approved by a local building/electrical inspector.
