LAWN CARE CALENDAR

To be used as a guide only.

January

There is very little work to do this month apart from brushing away leaves. Keep off the grass if frozen or waterlogged.

February

Rake the grass thoroughly. Spike the lawn to aerate and stimulate soil organisms and root growth and apply lawn sand if necessary.

March

The yearly lawn work programme really starts this month. As soon as the ground conditions are suitable, the first cut can be made. The first cut should merely “top” the grass as close cutting at this stage could result in severe yellowing or browning. Two cuts are generally suffi- cient this month.

April

Mow often enough to stop grass growing away. Dig out patches of coarse grass or resistant weed. Re-seed bare patches.

May

Keep mowing increasing the frequency as required. Treat with selec- tive weed killers or combined weed/feed preparations if you did not feed the lawn in April.

June

Summer mowing should now be under way. It should be necessary to mow the lawn twice a week. Raking before mowing is important this month as the combined action keeps runners of clover under control. Water the grass if necessary, and remember to soak thoroughly.

July

Treat the grass with the second application of fertiliser or weed killer/fertiliser. Water when necessary and rake occasionally. As a gen- eral rule the grass clippings should be removed each time you mow. If weather conditions are dry and hot and the grass is weed free, leave the clippings on the lawn to help maintain ground moisture.

The Hayter 341A is equipped with a powerful 125cc OHV engine that delivers reliable performance, ensuring that users can tackle their mowing tasks quickly and effectively. Its lightweight design allows for easy maneuverability, making it suitable for small to medium-sized gardens. The 341A features a 41 cm steel cutting deck, providing durability while achieving a fine finish on grass. One of the standout features of the 341A is its 4-in-1 capability, allowing users to choose between collecting, mulching, rear discharge, or side discharge options, giving them the flexibility to maintain their lawns according to their preferences and conditions.

In contrast, the Hayter 3401 model appeals to a slightly different user base with its enhanced features. The 3401 boasts a powerful 150cc engine, offering increased torque and cutting power, making it ideal for larger lawns and tougher grass conditions. It features a wider 48 cm cutting deck, enabling faster mowing and better coverage with each pass. This model also includes an advanced variable speed system, allowing operators to adjust the mowing speed according to their comfort and the terrain they are navigating.

Both models incorporate innovative technologies designed to improve the user experience. For instance, they come with an adjustable cutting height feature, allowing for precise control over grass length, which is especially useful during different seasons. The ergonomic handle design reduces strain during extended use, ensuring that lawn care remains a comfortable task even over longer periods.

Durability is a hallmark of Hayter products, and both the 341A and 3401 are built with high-quality materials designed to withstand the rigors of regular use. The mowers also have robust grass collection systems, minimizing the need for raking post-mow and making cleanup efficient.
