Purpose

This manual provides required information on using SAMS Basic application program. It explains installation and configuration of SAMS Communication Server Basic and Microsoft SQL Server 2005, which are required for SAMS Basic.

Target Audience

This manual is designed for administrators manages the SAMS Basic with its installation, configuration and maintenance. The SAMS Basic administrator requires intermediate or higher knowledge and experience on Windows operating systems and its use. Also, Basic or intermediate knowledge on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and network systems is required.

Term

Descriptions

 

 

SAMS Basic

Means SAMSUNG Access Management System Basic, which is the management

application program for access control.

 

SAMS Communication

Means SAMSUNG Access Management System Communication Server Basic, which is

Server Basic.

the dedicated communication server for communicating with ACU (Access Control Unit).

ACU

Acronym of Access Control Unit, which means a hardware for the access control

system.

 

Device

Means all hardware units for the access control system. For example, access

controller, biometrics readers etc.

 

Biometrics Device &

Access control systems using biometrics information such as fingerprint, face

Reader

recognition, palmprint, and vein recognition.

Reader

Card recognition device for the access control system. It reads card and sends the

information to the access controller to define the door actions.

 

Input

Signals accepted by the access controller from access control devices. Such input

can be signals from Exit button, door contact and motion detection sensor.

 

Output

Signals generated by the access controller and sent to access control devices. Such

output can be connected to door locks, sirens, and buzzers.

 

Door Lock

Electric door locking system which locks or unlocks a door according to the access

controller’s output signal.

 

 

A button to unlock and open a door, which is usually installed inside of a door. When

Exit Button

it is pressed, the door connected to the button is unlocked. Can be connected to the

 

input port of an access controller.

Door Contact

A device to check if a door is open or closed, usually installed with door lock devices.

Can be connected to the input port of an access controller.
