Installation Procedure 2:

Using DAC960P Series, eXtremeRAID 1100 (DAC1164P), AcceleRAID 150, AcceleRAID 200, or AcceleRAID 250

If the Mylex Disk Array Controller will be the primary (bootable) controller, you must install the controller driver after Windows 2000 installation is completed.

￿Caution

Do not use the [F6] update key when installing

Windows 2000 with any of the above controllers.

After you have performed one of the installation options below, follow the driver update procedures detailed in “Updating the Mylex Controller Driver” on page 4-16in order to install the latest driver and make it active.

Primary (new) Installation

A primary installation is:

First time installation of Windows 2000 operating system, according to the Microsoft User manual, and

Mylex PCI RAID controller is the bootable device, configured with RAID EzAssist.

Secondary (new) Installation

A secondary installation is:

First time installation of Windows 2000 operating system, according to the Microsoft User manual, and

Mylex PCI RAID controller as a non-bootabledevice.

Secondary (existing) Installation

A secondary existing installation is when:

Windows 2000 operating system is already installed, and

An additional Mylex PCI RAID controller has been connected to your system as a non-bootabledevice.

In this case, during the installation, you will see a message that the system has located new hardware. This will function as a Plug and Play process; there is no action required from you. Wait for the installation to finish.
