The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess AP80M is the ideal wireless solution for harsh outdoor environments where conven- tional Wi-Fi access points cannot be deployed. The OmniAccess AP80M is a dual-radio 802.11a/b/g access point that also supports wireless air monitoring capability. Designed for extreme, all-weather deployment (such as extreme heat, cold, rain), the OmniAccess AP80M operates as a “thin” AP, fully controlled and managed by an OmniAccess WLAN switch. The OmniAccess AP80M’s flexible design supports a variety of attachable antennas and supports an integrated PPP over Ethernet client for remote deployments over service provider networks.

AP80 specifications

The Alcatel-Lucent AP80 is a versatile and robust wireless access point designed to meet the demands of modern networking environments. Targeted primarily at enterprises, educational institutions, and public venues, the AP80 is crafted to deliver high-performance connectivity and seamless user experiences in both indoor and outdoor settings.

One of the standout features of the Alcatel-Lucent AP80 is its exceptional dual-band functionality. Operating on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, the access point supports a total aggregate throughput of up to 1.75 Gbps. This allows for efficient traffic management, reducing latency and delivering a smooth experience for multiple users and applications simultaneously.

Equipped with the latest Wi-Fi technology, the AP80 supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), which enhances performance in dense environments. Wi-Fi 6 introduces features like Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and 1024-QAM, allowing for more efficient data transmission and increased user capacity. This is particularly beneficial in high-density scenarios, where many devices connect concurrently, such as in stadiums, conference centers, and campuses.

The AP80 is designed with a robust deployment flexibility in mind. It features multiple operating modes, including managed and standalone options, enabling organizations to tailor the setup according to their specific needs. The access point can be easily integrated into existing networks with minimal disruption, allowing for quick upgrades to wireless capabilities.

Security is a crucial aspect of the AP80’s design. It incorporates advanced security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure safe connections for users. Support for WPA3 enhances password protection and provides stronger encryption, keeping malicious actors at bay while promoting a secure atmosphere for all users.

Further enhancing its functionality, the Alcatel-Lucent AP80 features built-in intelligent analytics. This allows administrators to monitor network performance and optimize resource allocation proactively. Such insights can lead to better decision-making regarding capacity planning and network management.

In summary, the Alcatel-Lucent AP80 stands out with its combination of high throughput, dual-band capabilities, robust security features, and advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology. Ideal for high-density environments and diverse applications, the AP80 is a reliable solution for organizations looking to enhance their wireless network infrastructure, ensuring connectivity and efficiency in an increasingly digital world.
