The motherboard comes with two Double Data Rate (DDR) Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets.

1.7.2 Memory confi gurati ons

You may install 64MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB unbuffered ECC or non-ECC DDR DIMMs into the DIMM sockets using the memory configuration in this section.

When you installed four 1 GB DDR memory modules, the system may detect not more than 3 GB of total system memory because of address space allocation. This limitation applies only to systms with Windows® XP 32-bit operating system since it does not support PAE (Physical Address Extension) mode.

We recommend that you install less than 3GB of total system memory when using windows XP 32-bit operating system.

Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency. For optimum compatibility, we recommend that you obtain memory modules from the same vendor. Refer to the DDR400 Qualified Vendors List on page 1-14 for details.
