FEATURES:

The Potable Water Pump is a rugged, small sized fresh water pump used to deliver water to a faucet. Ideal for use with the Attwood 6142 Faucet/Hand Pump. It is made of ABS non-corro- sive FDA approved plastic. Meets U.S. Coast Guard Safety Standards Sections 33 CFR 183.410 and 183.425. Listed by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO).

Attwood marine hardware, navigation lighting, interior lighting, bilge pumps, and other marine accessories are specified more than any other brand by America’s best-known boat manufacturers as original equipment. Look to Attwood for quality replacement parts and add-on marine accessories.

CAUTION:

The Potable Water Pump is designed to pump fresh, potable water only. It must not be used to pump gasoline or other flammable liquids.

TOOLS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED:

1.Drill and suitable drill bits.

2.Screwdriver.

3.Wire strippers.

4.Four (4) wire connectors or equivalent.

5.One (1) in-line fuse holder with 2 amp fuse.

6.Two (2) #10 panhead screws (length must not protrude through deck).

7.Suitable length of 3/8" I.D. hose for pump to tank and pump to faucet.

8.Four (4) stainless steel screw-adjustable hose clamps.

9.Additional wire, if needed, in 16 or 18 gauge size.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Select a suitable location for this pump, keeping in mind that it must be a dry area.

The pump has intake and outlet fittings to fit 3/8" I.D. soft plastic tubing or 1/4" female pipe thread (cut off hose barb if necessary). Teflon® plumbers tape must be used for all threaded connections and hose clamps for all tubing con- nections.

NOTE: This product is designed to be used with the Attwood 6142 3-Way Electric Faucet which includes an integral ON/OFF switch. However, it may also be used with any 12 volt DC water system with an ON/OFF switch rated for 2 amps (or more) serv- ice providing that the recommended 2 amp fuse is also used.

2.After installing the pump, connect the pump’s black lead wire directly to the 12 volt battery negative (-) connector. Connect the pump’s brown wire lead to one wire of an in-line fuse holder and connect the other fuse holder wire to one lead wire from the Electric Faucet. Connect the other Electric Faucet lead wire directly to the 12 volt battery positive (+) connector. (See Figure 1). Added wire must be 18 gauge or larger.

An optional power ON/OFF switch, such as Attwood 7589 or 7563, may be installed as a master switch as shown in Figure 2.

The pump may be threaded directly into the tank. However, this is a centrifugal pump and must be positioned lower than the source of water to operate. Do not install on a surface higher than the bottom of your fresh water supply tank.

NOTE: When installing, outlet nozzle should always be higher than inlet nozzle. (See Figure 3)

Do not use synthetic rubber sealant (Silicone, RTV, etc.) or any sealant which smells like vinegar to seal the pump or its fittings. Use of these materials may cause the pump to crack. It is best to use plumbers Teflon® tape where required.

CAUTION:

ALWAYS protect the pump and the wiring with a 2 amp fuse. For 12 volt DC use only.
