Safety Precautions

The Autonet Mobile installation instructions must be followed to minimize potential interference with other electronics on the vehicle.

WARNING

To prevent injury or fire, take the following precautions:

When extending the ignition, battery, or ground wires, make sure to use auto- motive grade wires or other wires with a diameter of Xmm (AWG 16) or more to prevent wire deterioration and damage to the wire coating.

To prevent a short circuit, never put or leave any metallic objects (such as coins or metal tools) inside the unit.

If the unit starts to emit smoke or strange smells, disconnect immediately and consult the Autonet Mobile Customer Service Center.

Do not touch the In-Car Router during use because the surface of the unit be- comes hot and may cause burns if touched.

Mounting and wiring this product re- quires skills and experience. For safety’s sake, leave the mounting and wiring work to professionals.

CAUTION

To prevent damage to the In-Car Router, take the following precautions:

Be sure the In-Car Router is connected to a 12v DC power supply with a negative ground connection.

Do not open the bottom covers of the In-Car Router.

Do not install the In-Car Router in a spot exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoid places with too much dust or the possibility of water splashing.

When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with the prescribed rating. Using a fuse with the wrong rating may cause your unit to malfunction.

To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse, first disconnect the wiring harness.

NOTE

If you experience problems during instal- lation, consult the Autonet Mobile Cus- tomer Service Center.

If the In-Car Router does not seem to be working right, consult the Autonet Mobile Customer Service Center.

Wiring

Take the power wire for the In-Car Router directly from the ignition power source. If it’s connected to the vehicles wiring harness, it can cause blown fuses, etc. If it is connected directly to the cars battery it can deplete the battery.

Do not allow the wire to directly contact the edge of the iron plate by using grom- mets.

Connect the ground wire to a metal part of the car chassis that acts as an electrical ground passing electricity to the battery’s negative terminal. Do not turn the power on if the ground wire is not connected.

Be sure to install the protective fuse in the power cord.

For the power cord and ground, use a vehicle type (fireproof) power wiring cord with a current capacity greater then the units fuse capacity. Use a power cord with a diameter 8mm (AWG 8) or greater.

Cleaning the In-Car Router

If the In-Car Router becomes dirty, turn off the power and wipe the panel with a dry silicone cloth or soft cloth.

Do not wipe the In-Car Router with a hard cloth or a cloth dampened by volatile sol- vents such as paint thinner and alcohol. They can scratch the surface of the In-Car Router and/or cause the sealant to peel off.

To prevent the battery from draining please refrain from leaving the key in the ACC on position. This powers the In-Car Router up and could possibly deplete the battery.
