SOCKSisanetworkingproxyprotocol.TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtouseaSOCKSservertoreachnetworksontheother

sideofarewallorproxyserver.ThisfunctionalityisusefuliftheAxisproductislocatedonalocalnetworkbehindarewall,and

notications,uploads,alarms,etcneedtobesenttoadestinationoutsidethelocalnetwork(forexampletheInternet).

QoS(QualityofService)

QoS(QualityofService)guaranteesacertainlevelofaspeciedresourcetoselectedtrafconanetwork.AQoS-awarenetwork

prioritizesnetworktrafcandprovidesagreaternetworkreliabilitybycontrollingtheamountofbandwidthanapplicationmayuse.

TheQoSsettingsareconguredunderSystemOptions>Network>QoS.UsingDSCP(DifferentiatedServicesCodepoint)values,the

Axisproductcanmarkdifferenttypesoftrafc.

LiveaudioDSCPwillbeequaltolivevideoDSCPifH.264overRTSPisused.

SMTP(email)

TosendemailmessagesfromtheAxisproductviaSMTP(SimpleMailTransferProtocol),anSMTPmailservermustbesetup.This

isdoneunderSystemOptions>Network>SMTP(email).

EnterthehostnamesorIPaddressesandportnumbersfortheprimaryandsecondarymailserversintheeldsprovided.AFrom

emailaddressisalsorequired.Ifthemailserverrequiresauthentication,checkUseauthenticationtologintothisserverandenter

thenecessaryinformation.

SNMP

TheSimpleNetworkManagementProtocol(SNMP)allowsremotemanagementofnetworkdevices.AnSNMPcommunityisthe

groupofdevicesandmanagementstationrunningSNMP.Communitynamesareusedtoidentifygroups.

ToenableandcongureSNMPintheAxisproduct,gototheSystemOptions>Network>SNMPpage.

Dependingonthelevelofsecurityrequired,selecttheversiononSNMPtouse.

TrapsareusedbytheAxisproducttosendmessagestoamanagementsystemonimportanteventsandstatuschanges.CheckEnable

trapsandentertheIPaddresswherethetrapmessageshouldbesentandtheTrapcommunitythatshouldreceivethemessage.
