Section 3 • Using Your Boat

10.Steering System

!WARNING

Failure of the steering system will cause loss of control of your boat. Any change in steering such as looseness, tightness, binding, etc., must be checked immediately by your Baja dealer.

The steering system is an enclosed push-pull cable that is hydraulically assisted (power steering) at the stern drive end (Fig. 3.6.1). THE CABLE AND ITS CONNECTIONS TO THE STEERING WHEELAND TO THE OUT DRIVE MUST BE INSPECTED AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR BY YOUR BAJA DEALER. See section 8 of this manual for inspection, service and maintenance recommendations.

The power steering pump fluid level MUST be checked every time prior to using the boat. Refer to the steering system information in your Owner’s Packet.
