Section 5 • Fuel System

•Electrical equipment, including blowers – power off.

•Doors, hatches – closed.

•Smoking material – extinguished.

•Inboard tanks – grounded.

•Filler pipe – marked GAS or DIESEL.

•Fuel nozzle – in contact with filler pipe to prevent static sparks.

•Fill level – fill less than rated capacity of tank; allow for fuel expansion.

•Trim – fuel weight distributed equally.

D.After Fueling – Checklist:

•Doors, hatches – open.

•Sniff test – if fuel fumes remain, operate blowers until fumes are gone.

•Fuel tank – secure filler cap.

•Spills – wipe; dispose of rags ashore.
