Copying files in the root direc tory: Root Mode
Root directory: the top dir ectory in a file syste m. The root directo ry is provided by the
operating system and has a sp ecial name. For exam ple, in DOS systems th e root directory i s
called \.
1. To copy only the file(s ) in the root director y from the source dev ice to the target devi ce,
move the Full/Root switch on t he USB Anywhere into t he “Root” positi on.
2. Connect your source devic e. The source LED will p ulse with a green lig ht until the device is
recognized. Once the devic e is recognised, t he LED will then show a so lid green light. If th e
source LED turns red, the at tached device is not a s uitable source d evice.
3. Before connecting your targe t device, make sure the t arget device has su fficient unus ed
memory space for the file s you are about to trans fer. It is possible for th e source device
to have a higher storage capacit y than the target dev ice. However, the files tha t are to be
transferred must not exce ed the unused memo ry space on the tar get device.
4. Connect your target device. The target LED will p ulse with a green lig ht until the device is
recognized. Once the devic e is recognised, t he LED will then light u p with a solid green
light. If the target LED turn s red, the attached d evice is not a suitab le target device or d oes
not have enough memory spa ce available for the fi les you are about to tra nsfer.
5. Press the Copy button to transfer d ata from the source d evice to the target dev ice. The
source and target LED will s tart pulsing for t he duration of the dat a transfer.
6. Once the data transfer is compl ete, the source and t arget LED will stop pul sing and the LED
in the shape of a checkmark () wi ll light up green.
Data transmission errors
If the LED in the shape of a checkm ark () turns red duri ng copying, this mea ns that a data
transmission error ha s occurred. The co py was not successfu l. To continue, please ca rry out
the following:
1. Press the reset but ton.
2. Check if the target device has sufficient unused me mory space to hold t he files you wish
to transfer.
3. Repeat the instruction for copying files as descr ibed previously.
