OVERVIEW

Not sure how many rackmountable devices you can safely plug into your outlets? Monitor and control your power consumption with the APC® Switched Rack PDU.

Designed for today’s sophisticated IT environments, this network-manageable power distribution unit (PDU) enables you to control power independently for eight devices. Power on/off, set delays, monitor current, set alarm thresholds, reboot devices, and more. And you can control all these ports locally or remotely.

Power up!

It’s easy to monitor the aggregate current draw—just glance at the digital display on the PDU. Or check it on-line if you’re away from the data center. It’s a great way for IT managers and installers to avoid overloaded circuits when the current draw gets too close to the maximum amperage.

Sound the alarm.

You can set current thresholds for each individual outlet, and for the aggregate current of the entire PDU and the attached devices. If the current draw approaches the threshold, an alarm alerts you of potential circuit overloads. Values below the threshold also trigger an alarm.

Independent thinking.

Depending on your equipment, you can set independent values for each individual outlet. Parameters include power on, power off, power on delay, power off delay, reboot duration, and recycle power. To avoid an in-rush of power at start-up, you can set up power sequencing and determine which equipment is powered up and when.

Save unnecessary trips.

Instead of hopping in your car in the middle of the night, control power and reboot equipment from the comfort of home. Full-featured network management interfaces enable you to control individual outlets via the Web, SNMP, Telnet, and the APC InfraStruXure system. You can access, configure, and manage units remotely. Turn outlets off that aren't in use to prevent overloads, recycle power to locked-up equipment, and more.

Be an account manager.

You can set up and manage user access to individual outlets and provide more system security. The four different types of accounts include: administrator, device user, outlet user, and read- only user. You can also set up an independent user account for each outlet. For easier tracking, you can upload event and data logs into a spreadsheet.

The firmware is easily upgradable for future enhancements.

Rack it up.

Put power where you need it most. You can rack the PDU horizontally or vertically, depending on your equipment setup. Just plug the PDU into your power source, and then plug your eight devices into the PDU.

Please remember, the PDU does not provide power backup or surge protection. You will need a separate device for power protection.
