Certification Notice for

Equipment Used in Canada

The Canadian Department of Communications label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications-network protective, operation, and safety requirements. The Department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’s satisfaction.

Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. In some cases, the company’s inside wiring associated with a single-line individual service may be extended by means of a certified connector assembly (extension cord). The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.

Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility—in this case, your supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.

The Black Box LE1502A-R3 and LE1508AE 10 Mbps economy media converters are designed to bridge different networking technologies effectively and efficiently. These devices cater to users who need cost-effective solutions for connecting legacy networks with contemporary Ethernet infrastructures. With a focus on reliability and ease of use, these media converters allow seamless communication across various types of cabling.

One of the standout features of the LE1502A-R3 is its ability to convert 10BASE-T Ethernet to 10BASE-2 (thin coaxial) or 10BASE-5 (thick coaxial), offering versatile connectivity options. This flexibility is vital for users who may have existing coaxial cabling and want to integrate newer technologies without replacing the entire infrastructure. The LE1508AE, on the other hand, operates as a multiport converter that can accommodate multiple connections, making it ideal for expanding network capabilities without significant investment.

Both models are designed with user-friendliness in mind. They are plug-and-play devices, which means they don't require extensive configuration or technical expertise for installation. This feature is particularly advantageous for small businesses or users looking for straightforward solutions without the overhead of technical staff. Additionally, the units provide LED indicators for power, link status, and activity, which enables easy monitoring of connections and troubleshooting if necessary.

The LE1508A provides enhanced network scalability by supporting multiple devices simultaneously, accommodating a variety of applications including remote offices, branch networking, or even industrial settings. Meanwhile, the LE1502AE-R4 version boasts built-in surge protection, which is essential for safeguarding network integrity against electrical fluctuations—a critical feature for environments prone to such issues.

Both the LE1502A and LE1508AE are crafted to ensure long-lasting performance, featuring robust housing and components that can sustain harsh conditions without compromising functionality. Ultimately, these Black Box media converters represent a practical solution for organizations looking to expand their networks while maintaining the efficiency and reliability needed for critical operations. By leveraging these devices, users can achieve effective integration of older cabling technologies with modern Ethernet networks, ultimately enhancing overall productivity and connectivity.
