Troubleshooting

PROBLEM

CONDITION

CAUSE

		• Amplifier not plugged in.
	Power Indicator LED is off.	• AC outlet dead.
		• Power switch off.
		• Circuit breaker tripped.
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• No signal from source.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is off.	• Module not installed correctly.
NO SOUND
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Master or input channel volume control turned down.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is green.	• Insert loop is “broken.” (RCA Plug in Sig Proc IN
	LED Output Meter is off.	connector)
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Speaker connections on amplifier incorrect.
		• Trans / Direct Out selector not set correctly.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is green.
		• Poor / broken speaker wiring.
	LED Output Meter is operating.
		• Defective speakers.
	Power Indicator LED is red.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is green.	• Partial short on the output.
	Volume Controls are turned up and
	shows little activity.
	Unit is extremely hot.
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Signal from source is already distorted.
		• Poor speaker connections.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is green.
		• Trans-Out load on wrong tap.
DISTORTED	LED Output Meter is not in red.
		• Bass control boosted too much.
SOUND
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Input signal level to module too high (should cause red
		LED).
	Input Signal / Clip LED is red.
		• Input module gain too high (if available).
	LED Output Meter is not in red.
		• Input module being overdriven by a high input signal.
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Input volume controls set too high.
	Input Signal / Clip LED is green.
		• Input master volume control set too high.
	LED Output Meter in red.
		• Lo-cut switch is set to ON.
POOR	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Speakers wired out of phase.
LOW FREQ.		• Check module bass control setting (if available).
	Input / Signal Clip LED is green.
RESPONSE		• Check bass control setting.
	LED Output Meter not in red.
(NO BASS)		• Note: Transformer-coupled speakers have less bass
		response.
		• Poor electrical connections at input.
		• Input cable routed near AC cables, power transformer, or
		other EMI radiating devices.
	Power Indicator LED is red.	• Electrically noisy devices operating on the same AC
NOISE/HUM	Volume controls are in normal	circuit.
