Source Issues What to do
The disc does not play or plays
intermittently • After pressing the CD/DVD button, wait a few seconds before pressing Play.
• Make sure the disc is properly inserted (label side up).
• Eject the disc and try loading it again.
• Check the disc for scratches, fingerprints, smears, or dirt. See “Protecting and keeping it clean” on
page69.
• Try another CD. The CD may be defective or not compatible. See “Discs that are system compatible” on
page54.
No sound from a component
connected to the VCR or AUX
Audio In connector on the
media center
• Make sure component is plugged in and turned on.
• Check the connections.
• Refer to “Connecting another device (cable or sat ellite box, VCR, or DVR)” on page 29.
• Refer to the c omponent owner’s manual.
Radio does not work or the
sound is distorted • Select another station. You may be in an area of weak signal coverage for some stations.
• Make sure antennas are connected properly.
• Move the e nds of the FM antenna to improve reception.
• Make sure the AM antenna is in an upright position.
• Move AM antenna at least 20 inches (50 cm) from the media center.
• Move antennas farther from media center, TV, or other electronic equipment.
• Refer to “Co nnecting the AM and FM antennas” on page 37.
FM sound is noisy when 3 or 5
speakers play • Weak FM stations will produce static in the surround speakers. Select the 2-speaker mode in the
Settingsmenu to minimize noise. See “Changing system and source settings” on page 57.
Storing issues What to do
Storing music tracks takes
much longer than expected • Remove the disc and check for scratches, which may slow the process or make it impossible to store all
tracks.
• Or, if the CD needs cleaning, refer to “Cleaning discs” on page 53.
