your Breville Conical Burr Grinder™

Before first use

Before first use, remove any promotional stickers or packaging material attached to your Grinder.

1.Remove the Bean Hopper, Bean Hopper Lid and Grinds Container and wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Before each use, ensure Grinding Chamber and Grinds Container are clean and empty.

2.Remove the Burr Grinder inside the Grinding Chamber by gripping the small inner black plastic frame and pulling out the top ring.

3.Using a soft cloth, wipe off any excess protecting oil from the Burr Grinder and place it back into the Grinding Chamber.

4.Place the Bean Hopper into the Grinding Chamber so the ‘ALIGN’ arrow on the Bean Hopper aligns with the ‘ALIGN’ arrow on top left-hand side of the Grinder. Turn the Bean Hopper clockwise to lock into position.

5.Measure the desired quantity of whole coffee beans or spices directly into the Bean Hopper and cover with the Bean Hopper Lid.

6.Plug the Grinder into a 110/120V power outlet.

7.To select the desired fineness of grind, rotate the Bean Hopper and align the white marker on the front panel of the Grinder with one of the following settings:

COARSE

– French Press

MEDIUM

– Percolator/Drip Filter

FINE

– Espresso

(Dual Wall Filters)

EXTRA FINE

– Espresso

(Single Wall Filters)

See Coffee Chart on page 10 for additional coffee setting recommendations.

NOTE:

In order to remove any excess protecting oils from the Burr Grinder, it is necessary to grind

1.75oz (50g) of coffee beans on the Extra Fine (Espresso) setting. Discard this initial ground coffee.

NOTE:

Adjust the fineness of the grind only when the grinder is in operation or when there are no beans in the hopper.

8.Rotate the Timer Selector Dial to select the desired grinding time.

9.Press the ‘START’ button on the front of the Grinder to begin grinding. The Coffee Grinder will begin grinding the coffee directly into the Grinds Container and will stop automatically when grinding is complete. To stop the grinding cycle at any time, push the ‘START’ button again. If the ‘START’ button is pressed again, the grinder will start from the beginning of the timed cycle.

10.Remove the plug from the power outlet.

11.Gently tap the side of the Grinder, above the Grinds Container, so that any grinds remaining in the grinding chute are released into the Grinds Container.

12.Remove the Bean Hopper, Bean Hopper Lid and Grinds Container and wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

13.Wipe the Grinding Chamber with a soft dry cloth and replace the Bean Hopper, Bean Hopper Lid and Grinds Container back into position.

BCG450XL/B specifications

The Breville BCG450XL/B is a high-performance conical burr grinder designed for coffee enthusiasts who are serious about achieving the perfect brew. This grinder stands out in the crowded coffee grinder market due to its advanced features and reliable performance, making it an ideal choice for home baristas.

One of the key features of the BCG450XL/B is its conical burr grinding mechanism. Unlike blade grinders that can heat coffee beans and produce inconsistent grinds, the conical burr system ensures uniformity in grind size. This is essential for extracting the most flavor from the coffee, as different brewing methods require specific grind sizes to be effective. The burrs are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, promoting durability and longevity.

Another noteworthy aspect of the Breville BCG450XL/B is its grind size settings. It offers an impressive 25 different grind settings, ranging from fine to coarse. This versatility allows users to easily tailor their grind to match different brewing methods, whether it’s espresso, French press, or drip coffee. The precision built into the grind adjustment ensures that users can achieve their desired flavor profile with ease.

The BCG450XL/B is equipped with a dose control feature, allowing users to select the exact amount of coffee they wish to grind. This is particularly useful for those who often brew different quantities. The grinder can produce grounds for as little as one cup or enough for a full pot, ensuring minimal waste and maximum efficiency. Additionally, the integrated timer lets users set grinding times with precision, ensuring a consistent amount of coffee grounds every time.

Ease of use is another hallmark of this grinder, as it features an intuitive interface and clear markings for easy adjustments. The hopper can hold up to 16 ounces of coffee beans, reducing the need for frequent refills. It also has a locking mechanism, making it easy to remove and refill without mess.

The Breville BCG450XL/B is also designed with safety in mind, featuring a safety lock mechanism that prevents operation unless the hopper is securely locked in place. This not only ensures user safety but also contributes to the grinder's overall reliability.

In summary, the Breville BCG450XL/B combines advanced technology, user-friendly features, and durable construction, making it an excellent choice for coffee lovers looking to elevate their brewing experience. With its conical burr grinder, extensive grind settings, dose control, and safety features, this machine stands out as a top contender in the premium coffee grinder market.
