Wheel Drive Control Adjustment
The drive handle (A, Figure 18) should engage the transmission when the handle is pushed forward, and should disengage the transmission when the handle is pulled fully back.

If the transmission does not engage or disengage, adjustment may be performed as follows:
1.Remove the rear cover from the mower. Refer to the section entitled “Rear Cover Removal & Installation”.
2.With the drive lever pulled fully back in the ‘DISENGAGE’ position, the spring (A, Figure 19) on the end of the wheel drive control cable should have no tension. Measure the overall length of the unextended spring (B).

3.Push the drive lever fully forward, and measure the length of the extended spring. The overall spring length should increase by 0.020 – 0.025”.
4.To adjust spring extension:
a.Disengage the handle.
b.To increase (+) the extended spring length, rotate the thumb wheel (A, Figure 20) upwards (counter- clockwise, from operator’s perspective).
c.To decrease
5.Push the drive handle fully forward and recheck the extended spring length. Repeat Step 4 as needed.
