About Exposure

Setting the Exposure

When taking photographs using TTL
metering, noexposure compensation is
necessaryto meter the light coming through
the lens.
With TTLmetering, AE (autoexposure) is
possible atall focusing distances. Just set the
desired picture-taking mode, then checkthe
shutterspeed and aperture before taking the
picture.

Magnification and Effective f-number

The aperture displayed by the camera assumes
thatthe focus is set to infinity. The actual aperture
(effectivef-number) becomes darker (effective f-
numberincreases) at closer focusing distances
(magnification increases). This does notcause
exposure problems for normal picture-taking.
However, forcloseup photography, you cannot
ignore the change
in
the effective f-number.
When you useahandheld exposure meter to
setthe exposure, you must take into account
theexposure factor shown
in
the following
table.
