High-capacity ink tanks (black 130cc, each color 80cc) are equipped to support large-volume printing. Moreover, high-capacity paper feeding is possible with the standard paper-feed cassette that holds up to 250 sheets of plain paper. With the optional paper-feed unit, it is possible to realize paper feeding at a maximum of 750 sheets. (The N2000 features an optional one-deck, add-on cassette that expands the printing capacity to 500 sheets maximum.)

Both the main unit and the print head have a duty cycle of 7,500 pages per month (5% for A4/letter monochrome or 5% for each color). An extraordinary degree of durability and maintenance-free operation have been achieved, making it ideal as a shared office printer. Periodic parts replacement and maintenance downtime are virtually a thing of the past. Running costs are less than two cents per page for monochrome printing, or less than five cents per page for color printing (each color at 5%).

Furthermore, 10/100 Base-TX, USB1.1, and IEEE1284 interfaces are supported. Since it is compatible with the Canon GENUINE network card for TCP/IP, IPX/SPX™ and Ethernet, the N1000/N2000 comes ready to be plugged into a range of network systems for use as a high-demand office network printer.
