In order to achieve the fastestpossible print speeds while maintaining ultra-high print
quality, inkmust be ejected simultaneously from a large number of closely positioned
nozzles. High densityplacement of small, short nozzles reduces the number of passes
necessaryfor printing and increases head drive frequency. Here again, Canon avoids the
manufacturing methodsused by competitors, instead employing integral formation via
photolithographyto allow for microscopic nozzles with sub-micron precision. Bonding
and other manufacturing processesused by competitors make it impossible for them to
achieve the nozzle size, quantityand density of nozzles produced by FINE, so while
adequate qualitycan be achieved with slow multiple passes, Canon’s combination of
speed and qualitycannot be matched.
Canon’sexclusive Think Tank System helpsto control printing costs*, an important
consideration. Thisefficient system employs individual ink tanks for each color so that
usersreplace only the color that runs out, rather than an entire cartridge containing
unused ink. In addition, a unique low-inksensor alerts users as ink levels become lower
(15%, 10% and 5%), so theycan be prepared with a new tank as needed.
The iP4000R printer incorporatesCamera Direct, which supports both Bubble Jet Direct
and PictBridge technology. Thismeans that users can expect fast, high-quality direct
printing when theyconnect to a compatible digital camera or DV camcorder†††, whether it
isa Canon or anyother brand that supports the PictBridge standard.
