Switching between Focusing Modes

The autofocus frame (AF frame) indicates the area used to set the focus. Select from among the following three focusing methods.

You can have the camera automatically detect the position of a face and use this data to set the focus and exposure* while shooting. In addition,

Face the camera will meter the subject so that the face Detect is correctly illuminated when the flash fires. If a

face is not detected, shooting will take place with [On].

*Only in evaluative metering mode (p. 55).

The camera detects the subject and highlights (No frame) On the AF frames, from 9 available points, that it will

use to determine the focus.

The camera focuses using the center AF frame. Off This is convenient for focusing on a specific part

of a subject with greater certainty.

[Face Detect] cannot be used when the LCD monitor is turned off.

z The AF frame appears as follows (when the LCD monitor is on) when the shutter button is pressed halfway.

-Green: Shooting preparations complete

-Yellow: Focusing difficulty (AiAF set to [Off])

-No Display: Focusing difficulty (AiAF set to [On])
