Combination Lap/Shoulder Belt with Sliding Latch Plate

WithHarnessSystem:

Pull on latch plate (fig. a). If belt slides freely through latch plate, a locking clip MUST be used. (See “Locking Clip”section, page 29.)

WithoutHarnessSystem:

This vehicle seat belt system is OK to use with booster car seat.

Movement of the seat belt through the latch plate can allow an active toddler to slide down in car seat and re-position lap belt over abdomen and shoulder belt over neck or face which is dangerous.

A Locking Clip may be used on this type of vehicle seat belt to prevent movement of seat belt through latch plate limiting toddler’s movement:
