Installation (continued)
Bolt (3w), Flat Washer (5w), Lock Washer (4w) and Nut (6w), place through the mounting channel and the vehicle frame and tighten to at least 35 ft. lbs.
NOTE: The winch should be mounted to flat part of the vehicle (frame) that is capable of sup- porting and evenly distributing the Winch and its full load capacity. Remember, the Winch is designed for horizontal pull, NOT vertical.
8.Connect the (two short Black) Solenoid Cables to both terminals on the Winch (see FIGURE 1). Securely tighten nuts.
Caution:The Battery cables should not be drawn taut. Leave slack for some cable move- ment. Do not route cables near moving engine parts, or heated areas that could melt the cable insulation.
9.Connect the Battery Wire Assy. Red (positive +) (17s) from the Solenoid Assembly (34w) to the positive (+) terminal on the vehicle’s 12 volt battery.
10.Connect the Battery Wire Assy. Black (negative
11.To check for correct winch motor rotation, first disengage the winch clutch by moving the Cam Ring (11w) to the “out” position.
12.Pull out
13.Insert the Switch Assy. (35w) into the Connector (9s) on the side of the of the Solenoid Assy. (34w).
14.Now momentarily press the “Red” button on the Switch Assy. (35w) and observe if the cable is being wound back into the winch. If not, first disconnect the Red (+) battery cable and then reverse the two short Black Solenoid cables attached to the end of the winch motor (see Figure 1). Now reconnect the battery cable. Installation of the winch is now complete.
Operation
1.Disengage the clutch of the Winch by moving the Cam Ring (11w) to the out position. See FIGURE 1.
2.Pull the Cable Assy. (36w) out the to the desired length, then attach the Hook to the item being pulled. Make sure the Hook’s
Warning: Always leave at least four turns of cable on the drum. Review Winch Safety Warnings and Precautions on pages 3 and 4 before continuing.
3.Reengage the clutch by moving the Cam Ring (11w) to the in position. See FIGURE 1.
4.Open the Cover (Female Conn.) (12s) on the Solenoid (34w) unit. Insert the Switch Assembly (35w) plug into the connector on the Solenoid (34w).
Note: The vehicle battery must be fully charged and the engine running before using the Winch.
