2.Set the Contrast - Press DEL/SET to access LCD CONTRAST setup. Press CLID to select the contrast (1-5). Press DEL/SET to confirm.

3.Set Year, Date and Time - Press DEL/SET to Access the YEAR, DATE and TIME setup. The digits of the year will flash. Press CLID to select the year and press DEL/SET to confirm. Use the same method to set the month, day, and time.

4.Set Local Code - Press DEL/SET to access the LOCAL AREA CODE setup, and the first of five digits will flash. Press CLID to select the digit and press DEL/SET to confirm. Use the same method to set the other digits. Example: If you set up area code 248, a call from (248)123-4567, will show on Caller ID as 123-4567 only.

5.Set Prefix Code – These codes are normally used to access a PSTN line from a PBX. After setting the local area codes, the first of three digits will flash. Press CLID to select the digit and press DEL/SET to save selection. Use the same method to set other digits if needed.

6.Set the Ring Melodies – The 8780 offers a choice of 16 different ring melodies. Press DEL/SET to access the RING MELODIES setup. Press CLID to select the desired melody (1-16) and press DEL/SET to confirm.

7.Set the Ring Volume - The 8780 offers a choice of 8 different ring volumes. Press DEL/SET to access the RING VOLUME setup. Press CLID to select the desired ring volume (1-8) and press DEL/SET to confirm.

8.Set Flash Time - Press DEL/SET to enter the FLASH TIME setup. Press CLID to select the flash time (100ms, 200ms, 300ms, 400ms, 600ms, 900ms) and press DEL/SET to confirm. Note: 600 mSec is the standard flash time for the United States.

9.Set Pause Time - Press DEL/SET to enter the PAUSE TIME setup. Press CLID to select the pause time (1.2S, 2.4S, 3.3S) and press DEL/SET to confirm.

10.Set DTMF or Pulse Mode - Press DEL/SET to access the dial mode setup. Press CLID to select the mode (DTMF or PULSE) and press DEL/SET to confirm.

11.Set Caller ID Timings – Press DEL/SET and the value for T1 will be displayed. Press DEL/SET again and the value for T2 will be displayed. Press DEL/SET again and the value for T3 will be displayed. These timing settings are for caller ID performance, and it is strongly suggested that the defaults be used.

OPERATION

TELEPHONE

1.Make a Call - Pick up the handset or press to get dial

tone and dial the number. When the called party answers, the LCD will time the call automatically.

2.Answer a Call - Pick up the handset or press to answer a call.

3.End a Call - Hang up the handset or press to end a call.

4.Switch Handset to Speakerphone - Press and then hang up the handset to talk through the speakerphone.

5.Switch Speakerphone to Handset – While on a Speakerphone call, pick up the handset and the talk mode will switch automatically.

6.Hold

a.Handset – While off-hook with the handset, press HOLD and the call will be muted. The LCD will say MUTE ON. You can still hear the other party, but the other party cannot hear you. Press HOLD again to return to the call. When the handset is hung up, the call is placed on HOLD and the IN USE/NEW LED flashes. Pick up the hand set again to return to the call or press to return to the call in speakerphone mode.

b.Speakerphone – While off-hook with the speakerphone, press HOLD and the call will be placed on HOLD. Press HOLD or to return to the call in speakerphone mode. Pick up the handset again to return to the call in handset mode.

7.Flash - This function is used for transfer on most PBX systems and also for call waiting service from the telephone company.

8.Pre-dial – While on-hook, dial the phone number and then pick up the handset or press . The number will be dialed automatically.

9.Pause - Press REDIAL/PAUSE to insert a pause in a speed dial number.

10.Redial

a.Last Number – Go off hook. Press REDIAL/PAUSE and the last number dialed will be dialed out.

b.Review – While on-hook press REDIAL/PAUSE repeatedly to review the last 16 dialed numbers. When the desired number is displayed, go off hook and it will be dialed.
