Check Engine Oil

Checkoil levelbeforeeachoperation.Besureoil levelis maintained.

1.Checkthe oil withthe enginestoppedand level.

2.Removethe oil fill dipstickandwipeit clean.

3.Insertandtightendipstick.Removeitto checkthe oillevel.

4.Ifthe oil levelisnearor belowthe lowerlimitmarkonthe dipstick, removethe oil fillercap/dipstick,andfill withthe recommendedoil to the upperlimitmark.Do not overfill.

5.Reinstallthe oilfill dipstick.

Change Engine Oil

Gasolineand itsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.

Fireor explosioncancausesevereburnsor death.

Changeengineoil afterthefirst fivehoursof operation,andeveryfifty hoursoronce a seasonthereafter.

5.Reinstallthe oilfill dipsticksecurely.

Clean Engine

Dailyor beforeeveryuse,cleangrass,chaffor accumulated debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean.

Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeof any combustible debris.

Keepingenginecleanallowsairmovementaroundengine.

Enginepartsshouldbe keptcleanto reducethe riskof overheat- ingand ignitionof accumulateddebris.

Do not usewaterto cleanengineparts.Watercouldcontaminatefuel system.Usea brushor dry cloth.

LUBRICATION

Blade Control

Lubricatepivotpointsonthe bladecontrolat leastoncea seasonwith

light oil.Thiscontrolmustoperatefreely inbothdirections.SeeFigure 15.

Wheels and Casters

Lubricatethe wheelsandcastersat leastonce aseasonwithlight oil (or motoroil). Ifwheelsareremovedfor any reason,lubricatetheaxle bolt and innersurfaceof the wheelwithlightoil. See Figure15.

Grass Catcher Adapter

Lubricatethe torsionspringand pivotpointon eachendof the grass catcheradapterdoorat leastonce a seasonwith lightoil to prevent rust.SeeFigure15.

Transmission

The transmissionis pre-lubricatedandsealedat thefactoryanddoes not requirelubrication.
