Los principales componentes de hardware y software del sistema son:

Dos o cuatro procesadores Intel® Xeon® de la serie 7300 de cuatro núcleos.

Compatibilidad con SMP (multiprocesamiento simétrico), que está disponible en sistemas con dos o cuatro microprocesadores Intel Xeon. SMP mejora en gran medida el rendimiento global del sistema al dividir las operaciones del microprocesador entre microprocesadores independientes. Para aprovechar esta característica, se debe usar

un sistema operativo que admita el multiprocesamiento.

NOTA: Si decide actualizar el sistema instalando microprocesadores adicionales, debe solicitar los kits de actualización del microprocesador a Dell. No todas las versiones del microprocesador Intel Xeon funcionarán correctamente como microprocesadores adicionales. El kit de actualización de Dell contiene la versión correcta del microprocesador, así como las instrucciones para llevar a cabo la actualización. Todos los microprocesa- dores deben tener la misma frecuencia de funcionamiento interna y el mismo tamaño de caché.

Un mínimo de 2 GB de módulos DIMM con búfer completo (FB-DIMM) a 667 MHz, ampliables a un máximo de 128 GB mediante la instalación de combinaciones de módulos de memoria de 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB o 4 GB en las cuatro tarjetas verticales de memoria.
