4CARE AND CLEANING
•Switch the kettle off (lift it from the power base), unplug the power base from the wall socket, and let the kettle cool down completely before cleaning. Wipe the outside and inside surfaces of the kettle with a damp cloth.
•If necessary, you may use a little household detergent. To clean the filter, see “Water filter” below.
•If you use detergent inside the kettle, rinse thoroughly afterwards to remove all traces.
•Ensure that all connectors and sockets are kept dry.
•Do not immerse the kettle or power base in water or any other liquid.
•Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Descaling

element to overheat, reducing its |
working life. It may also cause the |
safety cutout to operate |
prematurely, switching the kettle off |
before the water actually boils. |
• As the kettle uses an under floor |
Minimise Scale
•Empty the kettle after each use; do not allow water to stand in the kettle overnight; use filtered water instead of tap water.
•Descale the kettle regularly, at least once a month, using a proprietary brand of descaler. In areas of very hard water descaling may be necessary more often.
•When descaling, follow the instructions on the packet of the descaler. When descaling has finished, empty the kettle and rinse it out numerous times with fresh water, then refill with freshwater, boil, and discard boiled water.
Water Filter
Depending upon the hardness of the water the scale particles that remain suspended in the water may give a cloudy appearance. The filter fitted to your kettle will help prevent these particles passing into your drink. You therefore must ensure that the filter is kept clean and clear of deposits, otherwise the performance of the filter may be affected, your drinks may contain scale and the water inside the kettle may look cloudy.
•Make sure that your hands are clean and free from hand cream, soap or similar, which might leave a slight taint to the water.
•Remove the kettle from the power base and ensure kettle is cold.
•Open the lid. Hold the top of the filter and pull it gently up and out of the kettle. Rinse it under a tap whilst softly brushing it with a soft brush. Rinse the kettle out with fresh water.
•To replace, align the sides of the filter with the grooves in the filter holder, and slide it slowly downwards and back into place.
