Please read these instructions before using your kettle, keep them in a safe place for future reference.
Carefully remove all packaging before use but keep the packaging until you are satisfied that the kettle is working correctly.
1IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using any electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
•To be protected against electrical hazards do not immerse the mains lead, plug, power base, or kettle in water or any other liquid.
•Do not use in a bathroom or outdoors.
•Use handles or knobs. Do not touch hot surfaces.
•Do not open the lid when the water is boiling.
•Take care when pouring – pour slowly, and do not over-tilt the kettle.
•Water will remain hot for a considerable time after boiling and can present a scald hazard. Keep the kettle, power base and the mains lead away from the edge of worktops and out the reach of children.
•Do not switch on unless the kettle contains at least 1 cupful of water.
•Do not allow the mains lead to hang over the edge of the worktop, or anywhere it may accidentally be caught or tripped over.
•Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children.
•Do not leave appliance unattended when in use.
•This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision.
•This kettle is for household use only.
•Unplug the power base from the wall socket when not in use, before moving and cleaning. Allow the kettle to completely cool down before cleaning and storing.
•Ensure that the lid is fully closed before switching the kettle on, otherwise it may not properly switch off.
•Ensure that the kettle is correctly placed onto the power base before switching on.
•Do not fill above the bottom of the max mark on the water level indicator. Remove the kettle from its power base before filling or pouring.
•Do not place the kettle, power base, or mains lead on or near any hot surface, hot hob or gas burners.
•Do not use the kettle for any purpose other than heating water.
•Use the kettle only with the power base supplied and vice versa.
•Do not operate any appliance with a damaged lead or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cordset available from Dualit helpline:

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
2BEFORE USE
•Remove all packaging from the kettle and its power base. Before using the kettle for the first time, or if it has been out of use for a long time, fill to the max mark and boil, then discard the boiled water and rinse the kettle out with fresh cold water.
Connection To The Mains Supply
•Check that the voltage marked on the appliance corresponds with the supply voltage.
•NOTE: Any plug cut from power supply cord should be disposed of immediately. Inserting any cut off plug into a 13A socket-outlet is hazardous.3
•Never use the plug without the fuse cover fitted. Ensure replacement fuse is the same current value as original.
•Replacement fuses are available from Dualit and should be ASTA approved to BS 1362.
3HOW TO USE
•Position the power base as close to a wall socket as possible. Locate the mains cable so that it does not overhang the work surface, and cannot be caught accidentally. Shorten the mains lead by winding it around the cord storage area under the power base, and bring it out of the cord exit in the base.
Opening the Lid
•Remove the kettle from the power base. If the switch has been pushed down inadvertently, it will spring up into the “off” position.
•Hold the kettle handle firmly in one hand, hold the lid knob in the other, and pull the lid straight up. As soon as it separates from the kettle, move it out of the rising steam.
Filling
•Open the lid and fill the kettle via the lid aperture. Not through the spout.
•Observe water level when filling, you must use at least one cup of water, but the water level must be below the Max mark.
•Do not overfill the kettle. If the kettle is overfilled, there is a risk that boiling water may be ejected from the spout and lid.
•Replace the lid and ensure it is firmly in place. Check that it is fully closed, otherwise the kettle may not switch off when boiling.
Switching On
•Check that the switch is in the “Off” position (lift the kettle from the power base and set it down again taking care not to spill any water). The switch will only operate when the kettle is correctly fitted onto the base.
•Plug the power base into the wall socket. If necessary, switch on the wall socket.
•Press the switch down. The neon light will light up and the kettle will start to heat up.
•When the water has boiled the kettle will automatically switch off, the switch will return to the “Off” position and the neon light will go out.
NOTE: When you lift the kettle from the base, you
will see drops of moisture
on the surface of the power base. This is the steam
used to switch the kettle
off automatically, which then condenses and escapes via vents in the underside of the kettle. This is perfectly normal, and should not be cause for alarm or returning the kettle.
•Remove the kettle from the power base before attempting to pour.
•When filling or carrying the kettle, do not tilt it backwards, as this may allow water to pass through the steam tube onto the control area. Should this happen, the kettle must be allowed to dry before reuse.
•To avoid the risk of splashing, pour slowly and do not over-tilt the kettle.
WARNING: IF THE KETTLE HAS JUST BOILED, IT WILL BE FULL OF STEAM, WHICH WILL ESCAPE AS SOON AS THE LID IS OPENED.
Boil Dry
•Do not switch the kettle on unless it contains at least one cup of water. Misuse of this kind will shorten the life of the kettle.
•If the kettle is accidentally switched on when it does not contain sufficient water, a boil-dry device will automatically switch it off. Wait until the kettle has cooled down before refilling. The lid may be hot and the water may spit as it touches the kettle base.
