SAFETY

Correct Use Of Chain Brake

Chain Brake Operation

Set the lever in the unlocked position before starting to cut.

If the brake is tripped by kickback reaction, the chain will stop immediately. Release the throttle to avoid possible damage to the engine or clutch.

Do not attempt to operate the engine with the brake locked.

Testing The Brake

Start the engine on a solid level surface and run at a fast idle until warm.

Hold the saw firmly by the handles and accelerate the engine to a fast idle.

Slowly operate the chain brake lever while holding the saw firmly on the ground. When the brake lever trips, the chain should stop. Immediately release the throttle trigger.

Locked

Unlocked

Do not allow the saw to tip forward in order to avoid damage to the chain.

If the chain does not stop immediately, return the saw to your authorized ECHO dealer for repair.

Note:

For practice, while cutting a small tree, push the lever forward to lock the brake.

Confirm that the brake works properly before each use.

If the chain brake is clogged with wood chips, function of the brake may deteriorate. Always keep the device clean.

Do not increase engine RPM's while the chain brake is locked.

The installation of a chain brake may be mandatory by law or as stipulated by insurance regulations in your area of operation. You should inquire through local government offices, your employer or your local dealer to ensure that your chain saw conforms to the required safety standard.

ECHO chain brakes have been designed and tested to comply with international safety standards as follows.

USA: ANSI Standard B175.1 Safety Requirement for chain saws

ANSI Standard B175.1 stipulates that the brake shall stop the chain 0.12 seconds at an engine speed of 13,500 r/min. It is the responsibility of the owner/operator to ensure that the brake is serviced, adjusted and tested strictly in accordance with the instructions as detailed here in order to ensure that the brake performance is maintained in compliance with the Standard B175.1.

CS-450P specifications

The Echo CS-450P is a powerful chainsaw designed for demanding tasks in various environments, ideal for both professional landscapers and avid DIY enthusiasts. Known for its durability and performance, this model showcases several outstanding features and technologies that set it apart from other chainsaws in its class.

At the core of the CS-450P is its robust 45.0 cc professional-grade, 2-stroke engine. This engine is engineered to deliver high power output while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency, making it suitable for extensive cutting tasks without the need for frequent refueling. The chainsaw is equipped with a decompression valve that simplifies starting, reducing the necessary pulling force, especially after prolonged storage or in cold conditions.

One of the standout features of the CS-450P is its Power Boost Vortex technology. This innovation enhances air intake, resulting in a more efficient combustion process. As a result, users experience a significant boost in performance, contributing to faster cutting speeds and improved overall efficiency. This system ensures that the chainsaw operates smoothly, even under heavy loading conditions.

The Echo CS-450P is designed for precise and controlled operation. It features a 20-inch bar and chain, providing an effective balance between reach and maneuverability. The sharp, low-vibration chain ensures smooth cutting action, reducing wear and enhancing safety during use. Additionally, the ergonomic handle design minimizes fatigue, allowing users to operate for extended periods with comfort.

Another significant aspect of the CS-450P is its anti-vibration technology. This feature helps absorb shock during operation, which not only enhances comfort but also promotes better control over the saw, especially during prolonged use. This is particularly beneficial for professional users who may be operating the chainsaw for hours at a time.

For user convenience, the CS-450P includes a convenient tool-less air filter cover, making maintenance easier and quicker. This accessibility encourages regular cleaning and upkeep, which ultimately prolongs the life of the chainsaw. It also features an automatic oiling system, ensuring that the chain remains lubricated during operation, thereby enhancing cutting efficiency and reducing wear on the bar and chain.

Overall, the Echo CS-450P is a well-equipped chainsaw, featuring advanced technology and thoughtful design elements that cater to the needs of users in various cutting scenarios. Its combination of power, efficiency, and user-friendly features makes it an excellent choice for those seeking reliable performance in a professional-grade chainsaw.
