5. INSTALLING YOUR CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

The Alarm is designed to be permanently mounted. The unit can be screwed directly to the wall or ceiling and connected to the mains. It requires a current of 60mA. The Alarm must not be exposed to dripping or splashing. There are important markings on the underside of the alarm.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTION: Do not install the actual alarm itself in new or renovated buildings until all work is completed (including floor coverings) and the building has been fully cleaned. The wiring can be installed when appropriate. (Excessive dust and debris from building work can contaminate the sensor and cause problems, it will also invalidate the guarantee). If it must be installed, cover it completely, particularly around the edges, with a dust cover, until all cleaning is finished.

The Ei225EN Alarm must not be connected when the house wiring insulation is being checked with high voltages i.e. don’t use an insulation tester on the alarm.

WARNING: Do not use the CO Alarm on an intermittent basis, or as a portable detec- tor for the spillage of combustion products from fuel burning appliances or chimneys.

WARNING: The Alarm must be continuously powered 24 hours a day so it is important that it is not on a circuit that can be turned off by a switch.

Ei220EN specifications

The Ei Electronics Ei220EN is an advanced smoke and heat detector designed to provide enhanced safety and peace of mind in residential and commercial buildings. Incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, this device offers reliable performance and is engineered to detect both smoke and rising temperatures, ensuring comprehensive fire protection.

One of the standout features of the Ei220EN is its dual sensor technology, which combines both photoelectric and heat detection. The photoelectric sensor is adept at identifying smoldering fires that produce a significant amount of smoke, while the heat sensor excels in detecting rapid temperature increases indicative of flaming fires. This dual approach significantly reduces the potential of false alarms caused by common household activities, such as cooking or steam from showers.

The Ei220EN is equipped with a built-in 230V power supply, offering continuous operation without the need for frequent battery replacements. In the case of a power failure, a 10-year rechargeable lithium battery serves as a backup, ensuring that the detector remains operational during emergencies. This feature provides users with confidence that their premises are protected around the clock.

This smoke and heat detector also boasts a large, easy-to-read LED indicator, which shows the status of the device. During normal operation, the indicator glows green, while it turns red in the event of an alarm. Additionally, a test button allows users to easily check the functionality of the device, ensuring that it is in working order.

Another notable characteristic is the Ei220EN's ability to interconnect with up to 12 other Ei alarms, enhancing safety throughout large homes or commercial spaces. In the event of an alarm, all interconnected units will sound, creating a robust alert system that increases the chances of early detection and response to a fire.

The Ei220EN also features a low-profile design that allows for easy installation on walls or ceilings, blending seamlessly with various architectural styles. Constructed from durable materials, it is built to withstand various environmental conditions, making it suitable for different settings, whether residential or commercial.

Overall, the Ei Electronics Ei220EN smoke and heat detector is a vital component in any fire safety strategy. With its advanced dual sensor technology, reliable power source, user-friendly features, and interconnectivity options, it delivers dependable and effective protection against the dangers of fire, ensuring the safety of all occupants.
