Setting up an Internet Connection

All eXplora computers come equipped with a 56k modem for dial-up Internet access and a 10/100 Ethernet LAN port for simplified connection to a external broadband modem.

Connecting to the Internet involves 3 separate steps.

1.Physically connecting your hardware and communication devices.

2.Subscribing to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to allow communication from your computer to the Internet (additional charges may apply).

3.Configuring the Internet Browser software on your computer to access the Internet.

Connecting your hardware

To establish dial-up Internet access, connect the supplied telephone line (RJ11) between a working telephone jack and the LINE jack on the back of the computer. (figure 5.1) If desired, a standard telephone can be connected to the Phone jack on the back of the computer.

Hint: When the Dial-up Internet connection is in use, the telephone line can not be used simultaneously.
