USING THE EVERPURE® JT CARTRIDGE FOR SANITIZING

Grasp the tip of the outlet tower (center, top of the cartridge and pull out gently (Figure 1).

 

 

The entire central plug with the long tube attached will come out, leaving a hole as big as

 

 

your thumb.

 

2.

Add about a teaspoon of laundry bleach (5.25% sodium hypochlorite solution) to the empty

 

 

flushing cartridge through the hole in the top.

 

3.

Lubricate O-ring with a high quality silicone lubricant. Replace the central plug assembly

 

 

and insert the flushing cartridge into the installed head.

4.After inserting the flushing cartridge in the head and opening the shut-off valve before the system, slowly open the product water line and run water to drain until the smell of chlorine is strong. Then immediately shut off the water and wait a period of at least half an hour.

5.The user should be instructed not to use the processed water for at least half an hour to allow adequate disinfection time. The water should be allowed to run for about 5 minutes to purge the installation of chlorine and the cartridge of air.

6.Remove the flushing cartridge and insert a new Everpure cartridge(s).

SCALEKLEEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR ICE MACHINES

1.Turn off the ice machine, and drain the sump.

2.Mix one 7-ounce packet of ScaleKleen in one quart of hot water and pour the solution into the ice machine sump.

3.Allow the sump to fill so that the pump is not starved of water.

NOTE: Do not turn on, the “REFRIGERATE” cycle. ScaleKleen works most effectively when mixed with hot water. The colder the water; the longer it takes to dissolve the scale.

4.Turn the switch to the “PUMP” mode and allow water to recirculate with ScaleKleen for 20 minutes.

5.Repeat steps 2 through 4 if scale deposits are still visible.

6.Drain and rinse the sump thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining traces of ScaleKleen.

7.Check the pH of the water in the sump. If it is within one pH unit of the influent tap water; then the ScaleKleen has been sufficiently rinsed out. (NOTE: an inexpensive pH test kit is available from your Everpure dealer).

8.Turn the ice machine on to the “ICE” mode and place it back in service.

SCALEKLEEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR VENDING MACHINES

1.Pour one-half to one 2.2 lb. packet of ScaleKleen into the JT Cartridge. Remove the existing 4H filter cartridge and insert the JT Cartridge in the filter head. Vend several cups of water to draw the ScaleKleen into the hot water in the tank. Wait 30 to 40 minutes then rinse the tank thoroughly with cold water.

2.After all de-scaling has been completed, remove the JT Cartridge, rinse it thoroughly with cold water and install a new Everpure 4H filter cartridge.

Batch Treatment

1.Heat water to almost boiling.

2.Slowly pour ScaleKleen into treatment tank. Stir to dissolve. Use one 2.2 lb. packet for every five gallons of water.

3.Wait 30 to 40 minutes. Check to see that all the scale is gone. Rinse the tank thoroughly with cold water.
