The orbital sander was invented by Festool and the RS2E is the hidden champion of our line of sanders. The RS2E is a ½ sheet orbital sander with a fine, 2.5mm stroke and a real workhorse.
Unfortunately ½ sheet sanders have become
more and more unpopular in recent years in the woodworking industry. They have been replaced by the widely used random orbital sander.
Though random orbital sanders have a number of advantages, you can’t beat ½ sheet sanders for smoothing out and finishing large, flat surfaces. Since a good ½ sheet sander produces a nearly perfect, flat plane there is no worry about dips or gouges showing up after finish dries.
