fUSING THE FLASH
Use this mode for ordinary photography. The
flash fires automatically as required by the
conditions.

Auto Flash (no icon)

You can choose from 5 flash modes to suit your
shot. Each time you press the f flash button,
the flash mode shown on the LCD monitor
changes from Auto flash (no icon displayed) to
o to f to p to m. The last mode
displayed is the selected mode.
Flash range
Wide-angle : 0.2m to 3.0m (7.9in.-9.8ft.)
Telephoto : 0.8m to 3.0m (2.6ft.-9.8ft.)

When the flash mode is set to Suppressed Flash, the
camera becomes ready to shoot more quickly after
you switch it on.

If you switch from Suppressed Flash mode to
another flash mode, you may find that the displayed
image disappears and the screen goes dark
because the flash is charging. When this happens,
the viewfinder lamp flashes orange.
No icon
This setting can be specified when the
photography mode is set to C.
Change the white balance setting when you
want to take a picture with the white balance
fixed for the surroundings and lighting when the
picture is taken.
In Auto mode, the correct white balance may not
be obtained for subjects such as close-ups of
people's faces and shots taken under a special
light source. In such situations, select the correct
white balance for the light source. See P.68 for
more information on the white balance.

The White Balance setting is disabled when you use
the flash. If you want to use the White Balance
setting to achieve a particular effect, set the flash
mode to Suppressed Flash.
