Turning the Camera on and Off

Shooting Mode

Press the Jbutton to turn the camera on. The lens will extend and the lens cover will open.

Press Jagain to turn the camera off.

2Tip: Switching to Playback Mode

Press the Hbutton to start playback. Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting mode.

3Caution

Pictures can be affected by fi ngerprints and other marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.

Playback Mode

To turn the camera on and begin playback, press

the Hbutton for about a second.

FirstSteps Press the Hbutton again to turn the camera off.

2Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode

To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway. Press the Hbutton to return to playback.

2Tip: Auto Power Off

The monitor will dim to save power if no operations are performed for about eight seconds in shooting mode. Full brightness can be restored by operating any of the camera controls. The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the AUTO POWER OFF menu (see page 75). To turn the camera on, press the Jbutton or press the Hbutton for about a second.
