Operation
If you are cutting a large dimension of sheet metal, use a large flat working sur- face such as a workbench to support the work as shown in Figure 3. Once the cut lines have been determined, turn the shears ON and begin the cut.

If you need to trim small pieces of sheet metal, use the shear in a stationary posi- tion while pulling the metal through the shears, towards your body as shown in Figure 4. Avoid letting your fingers get to close to the moving jaws.
If everything is in proper adjustment and working order, there should be a spiral trail of sheet metal exiting the shear as you make your cut.
