Set Up Instructions

Read ALL of the SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES on the previous page, including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product.

WARNING

Risk of electric shock! Do not use near water or in damp

conditions. The switch mechanism is not insulated.

Only use with grounded 120V outlet. Do not use with tool rated higher than 120VAC, 15A.

Please note: the following setup instructions apply to both the 96618 2-Step Foot Switch and the 96619 Foot Switch.

1.Make sure the tool used with the Foot Switch (router, scroll saw, wood carving tool, for example) is in the OFF position, disconnected.

2.Place the Foot Switch in a location that it will be easy to reach during use.

CAUTION! The Foot Switch is intended for temporary hands-free use only and not in place of a permanent ON/OFF power switch for the tool.

3.Mounting holes are available on either end of the Foot Switch base. This will keep the Foot Switch in place and prevent any kind of accidental kicking or movement.

4.If mounting, make sure the installation surface is free of any hidden wires or cables.

5.If needed, the Foot Switch can be placed on the work table and used by hand.

CAUTION! Hand-use should only be done if neither foot can reach or control the Foot Switch during use. Do not use your hand to control the foot switch if both hands are required to operate tool.

6.Once the Foot Switch is placed in the proper location in the work area (under the work table or near your chair) that can be reached by your foot (or hand), plug the cord of Foot Switch into a grounded 120V outlet.

7.Plug the power cord into the 3-prong outlet located at the end of the Foot Switch.

The Foot Switch is now ready to be used as the tool’s ON/OFF Switch.

WARNING for the 96618 Foot Switch! In case of a blown fuse or tripped breaker switch when foot switch is in use, please turn off the foot switch prior to replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker. Unplugging the tool from the foot switch is preferable. This will help insure that the tool does not power on unexpectedly after replacing the fuse.
