BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION FOR RECYCLING

See Figure 6.

Stop the motor.

Install padlock (not included) or lock-out pin into switch trigger hole. Keep both hands away from switch.

Remove the screws securing motor housing cover, then remove cover.

Lift batteries from motor housing enough to expose leads and battery terminals.

Using wire cutters with rubber coated or insulated handles, clip the battery leads and remove the battery for disposal.

Remove padlock or lock-out pin from switch trigger hole.

To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of batteries ­properly.

This product contains nickel-cadmium batteries. Local, state or federal laws may prohibit disposal of batteries in

ordinary trash.

Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options.

WARNING:

Upon removal, cover the battery pack’s terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble battery pack or remove any of its components. Nickel-cadmium batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Also, never touch both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.

STORing the Grass shear

See Figure 7.

Install padlock (not included) or lock-out pin into switch trigger hole.

NOTE: Only a locked padlock with the key stored in an- other location can prevent unauthorized use of the grass shear.

Clean all foreign material from the grass shear. Store indoors in a dry, locked up place—out of the reach of children. Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.

Always place the sheath on the cutting blades before transporting or storing the unit.

Store the product where the temperature is below 80°F.

Store the product in a “discharged” condition.

NOTE: The lock-out pin does not protect against unauthorized usage. Only a locked padlock with the key stored in another location can prevent unauthorized use of the grass shear.
