5. PRE-OPERATION CHECK
ENGINE OIL
Check the engine oil level with the
engine stopped and the mower on a
level surface.
1. Remove the oil filler cap, and wipe
the dipstick clean.
2. Insert and remove the dipstick
without screwing it into the filler
neck. Check the oil level shown on
the dipstick.
3. If the oil level is low (near the
bottom of the dipstick), fill to the
top of the oil filler neck with the
recommended oil.

Running the engine
with a low oil level will cause engine
damage.
Use high-detergent, premium quality
4-stroke engine oil, certified to meet
or exceed U.S. automobile manufac-
turers’ requirements for API Service
Classification SG, SF/CC, CD.
1 NOTICE 1 Using nondetergent oil
can shorten the engine’s service life,
and using 2-stroke oil will damage the
engine.
SAE lOW-30 is recommended for
general, all-temperature use. Other
viscosities shown in the chart may be
used when the average temperature in
your area is within the indicated range
