First,useonlydetergent specifical~ymadefor usein dishwashersOthertypeswill. causeoversutilng.

Second,checkthephosphate content.Phosphatehelpsprevent hard-watermaterialsfromforming spotsor filmon yourdishes.If yourwateris hard (7 grainsor more), yourdetergenthasto work harder.Detergentswith a higher phosphatelevelwillprobablywork better.If the phosphatecontentis low(8.7%or less), you’llhaveto useextradetergentwithhardwater.

Yourwaterdepartmentcantell youhowhardyourwateris. So can yourrural countyagent.Or yourarea’swatersofienercompany. Justcalland askthemhowmany “grains”of hardnessis in your water.
