Shutting down the Slate
CAUTION: Unsaved information will be lost when the Slate is shut down.
The Shut down command closes all open programs, including the operating system, and then turns off the display and Slate.
Shut down the Slate when the Slate is unused and disconnected from external power for an extended period.
Although you can shut down the Slate with the power switch, the recommended procedure is to use the Windows Shut down command.
To shut down the Slate, follow these steps:
NOTE: If the Slate is in the Sleep state or in Hibernation, you must first exit Sleep or Hibernation before shut down is possible.
1.Save your work and close all open programs.
2.Tap Start.
3.Tap Shut down.If the Slate is unresponsive and you are unable to use the preceding shut down procedures, try the following emergency procedures in the sequence provided:
●Press the Ctrl+alt+del button on the top edge of the Slate, next to the Home button, and then slide the power switch down.
●Slide and hold the power switch down for at least 5 seconds.
●Disconnect the Slate from external power.

The Slate has two
When Sleep is initiated, the screen clears. Your work is saved to memory, letting you exit the Sleep state faster than exiting Hibernation. If the Slate is in the Sleep state for an extended period or if the battery reaches a critical battery level while in the Sleep state, the Slate initiates Hibernation.
