Removal and replacement procedures

Remove the fan/heat sink assembly:

✎Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the fan/heat sink assembly and system board components, you might need to move the fan/heat sink assembly from side to side to detach the assembly.

ÄCAUTION: To avoid damage to the processor, loosen the fan/heat sink assembly screws in the sequence indicated on the heat sink assembly. Likewise, tighten the screws in the same sequence when installing the fan/heat sink assembly.

✎Steps 1 through 4 apply only to computer models equipped with graphics subsystems having UMA memory.

1.Turn the system board right-side up, with the front toward you.

2.Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
